Gondogoro La is a dreamland for mountaineering enthusiasts and climbers alike and is arguably one of the top 10 best locations for trekking in the world. It is a spectacular trek up to the Baltoro Glacier (63 km) which is one of the longest glaciers in the world outside of polar regions. One would experience the heights of mountains such as K2, Gasherbrum, Masherbrum, Laila Peak, Broad Peak, Trango Tower, Cathedral Peaks, Muztagh, Chogolisa, and further come across the beautiful valley of Hushe.
We have a very experienced and very professional crew to guide you across Gondogoro La. They are also one of the best in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. They are highly experienced at catering to all the needs of our members and do a tremendous amount to contribute to the overall success and satisfaction of our groups.
We also provide the best itinerary in terms of acclimatization, enjoyment, and safety along with an option to descend back down the Baltoro instead of going over the Gondogoro La Circuit.
This classic adventure trek to well-known “The Throne Room of the Mountain Gods” is one of the world’s most challenging treks. It offers the adventure trekker one of the most rewarding mountain experiences and takes the participant to the heart of the mighty Karakoram mountain range along the Baltoro to Concordia La.
This is also famous and well-documented as the meeting point of four of the highest mountains in the world: K2, the nearby Broad Peak (8,047-m), Gasherbrum II (8,035-m) and Gasherbrum I, the Hidden Peak (8,068-m) and 41 peaks over 6500m within the radius of 15 kilometers.
Views from Gondogoro La are unrivaled for its range of high peaks and the beauty that comes with it. Trekking in this beautiful, sometimes harsh region, across the glacier and over mountain passes to stand at the foot of some of the world’s most magnificent mountains is something most travelers put on the top their bucket list.
It leads through the enchanting Shigar valley in Baltistan starting from Askole, and returning via the snow-bound Gondogoro La (5,685 meters) to complete one of the finest high altitude treks in the world.
The Gondogoro La route is maintained by a local team in Skardu. This adventure begins with a one-hour flight from the city of Islamabad to Skardu, the capital of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. While acclimatizing in Skardu, one will have the opportunity to visit some of the ancient Buddhist sites or tranquil lakes of the Indus Valley. On the trek, one will experience first-hand why the locals are so resourceful and prosper in this high-altitude.
As you cross mountain passes and climb to the pass you will experience breathtaking vistas across the Baltoro Glacier to the peaks of the Karakoram mountains. This trek requires a good degree of physical fitness, as the variable weather conditions make the crossing of pass quite challenging, but at the end of the day more rewarding too.
